ABOUT YOOP

YOOP is an organization run for the youth of today by the youth of today. It explores the abuse of power through different types of media that leads to oppression of the youth of today. As our name says we are 'Youth Opposed to Oppression by Power'. We have created a presentation that will be viewed at the upcoming Youth Forum at Sydney University on World Affairs 2002. We have researched power by using many sources, such as Othello, The Shawshank Redemption, Nineteen Eighty-four, and In the Name of the Father. We looked at how power was represented and how the abuse of that power cause oppression and suffering to the victims. This site, we hope will enlighten you to the consequences of the misuse of power, through the analysis of texts and graphics.
